When there were two different used pseries servers listed in the paper for sale, I thought that it was a little strange. I also knew that there were four used ibm computers in there also. It is not every day that you come across those things and the fact that they all had different phone numbers to call was odd too.

I then learned from my neighbor that a local company had layed off about four hundred workers and they felt so bad about it, that they let some of the workers with more seniority take the office equipment to sell for a little extra cash. They knew that they were not going to be able to open their doors ever again and did not need them.

I thought that it was very nice of that company; they gave people part of the business that had failed them. I would think that the used pseries servers could bring in a pretty good price. I guess that they gave them to the foreman.

The people that were lower on the totem pole got the used ibm computers. It could bring them a few hundred extra dollars and that would help a little, or until they could find a new job. More companies should think about doing something like this.
